It isn't always the big events that make us turn our head when we hear about politicians, celebrities and athletes.
Sometimes, we just want to know that when you boil it down, they're all ordinary people like us.
What's in their fridge? What are they reading? What do they do in their off time?
Each Tuesday, ABC15.com is asking the same 10 questions of a newsmaker.
But don't jump to any conclusions these aren't the typical interview questions.
They are not meant to be probing or controversial. Instead, they're fun questions that let you get to know the person in ways you probably don't already.
In this week's article, we're getting to know Valley television and radio personality, Yetta Gibson.
Gibson, formerly on Phoenix's FOX 10, is an Emmy Award winning journalist. She's now reporting on KTAR radio during your evening drive.
Gibson's career spans news and entertainment at multiple networks including CNN, NBC, CBS, & FOX. She is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and a graduate of Georgia State University in Atlanta.
Gibson's career started in radio before her successful switch to the broadcast industry. In the early years, Gibson made her rounds in the broadcasting arena, touting she chose to gain knowledge, instead of a paycheck!
Gibson, a mother and wife, enjoys curling up with her Kindle and spending time with her family. But, I bet you couldn't guess her all-time favorite movies, until now. Read more...
10 Questions for Yetta Gibson
1. What is your all time favorite movie or song?
Anaconda was an awesome movie! Box office, Schmox Office!
2. Do you have a smartphone? If so, what's your favorite app?
I have a Blackberry...(dont get me started on IPhones) My favorite apps are: Flixster-- I use it to find out movie times and locations. The YouMail Visual Voicemail Plus--I can see who left me a voice message and what time without listening to all of my voice mails.... and Shoot It! --I can send physical postcards from my phone using pics on my phone.
3. Who do you count as your mentor(s)?
So many people wow! A lot of people helped me along my career path and in my personal life. They are all literally scattered across the country, from ATL to Vegas even here in Phoenix starting with the guy who was first to hire me and kick off my broadcasting career, Ron Sailor, Sr.
4. What was your very first job?
My first broadcasting job was in radio at the CNN center shortly after college. My first actual job while in high school, (drumroll please) was at Burger King! I still remember how to craft a mean Whopper with cheese.
5. If you could change one thing about yourself what would it be?
Nothing. I think Yetta, the way she is, with all of her flaws, is kinda cool. :) Ok...well my calves could be more sculpted, but I'm working on that
6. What do you consider your greatest success?
Hangin in there. I have seen myself grow into being the master of sticking it out, staying positive through tough situations...and seeing my way through. If you can do that. You can conquer anything.
7. Tell us something about you most people don't know?
I'm a weirdo when it comes to food. I don't like my foods touching at all on my plate. I don't like foods mixed together....everything has to be separated. Strawberry ice cream-yuck! Ice cream with a side of strawberries, now we can talk!
8. If you could have dinner with any three people, living or dead, who would they be?
Oprah, Marilyn Monroe, Ryan Seacrest
9. What is in your fridge right now?
A whole lot of fruit: oranges, grapes, apples. Capri Sun, and a few bottles of Riesling.
10. If you could have a different career, other than what you're doing now, what would it be?
I would be a high level humanitarian, flying all over the world helping people or I would open up a top of the line mentoring center for young girls who want to work in the public arena one day.
