Wouldn't it be nice if we all had a Rosey the Robot Maid from "The Jetsons?" Remember, she did all of the housework and even some of the parenting.
Back to reality… there are no robots waiting around to clean your house. But the O-Duster is supposed to come close.
It's a robotic floor cleaner and the claim is that it will change the way you clean your floors.
The O-Duster is supposed to work on all hard floors, including wood, tile and laminate.
First you have to charge the battery for 12 hours before its first use.
Then attach one of the included disposable cloths under the base.
Next you decide if you want a short cleaning, which is 30 minutes or a long cleaning, which is about 2 hours.
We sprinkled a little dirt, salt and hair in different areas on our tile floor.
Right away the O-Duster started cleaning, from one end of the room to the other.
But within a few minutes we had a problem. Instead of it changing directions when it got to the carpet, it got stuck over and over again.
So far, I'm not feeling like the floor is going to get clean if I walk away.
After 30 minutes of cleaning, one area in the kitchen seems pretty clean.
But after sweeping the floor for less than a minute, I quickly realized the O-Duster really just pushed the dirt into the corners.
Even more, it only cleaned half of the room; it never made it to the other side of the kitchen.
So we tried again. This time I picked it up and put it on the other side of the counter.
It picked up some dust and then got stuck again.
We also tried it on wood floors and it did remove a little dust, but from my experience I can't say it's worth the $40 we paid at Wal-Mart for it.
Also, it only comes with three disposable cloths, so you have to keep replacing them. I found a pack of 20 for $10.
But honestly, I don't think it's worth the cash.
For now I guess I'll have to continue doing the cleaning myself. I give the O-Duster a thumbs down.
