Will One Second Needle really simplify threading a needle?

Threading a needle can be so frustrating, but don't let that force you to throw away perfectly good clothes.

The One Second Needle is supposed to be the so-called "smart needle" that makes threading extremely simple.

But, will it work? Let me try it before you buy it.

In watching the infomercial, it seems like a miracle needle.

In fact, they show a woman threading the One Second Needle blindfolded, so you know I have to try it.

The instructions are simple, just loop and thread.

And just like the infomercial shows, it really works, although we weren’t successful trying to thread it blindfolded.

Now that the needle is threaded, it's time for the real test; we have to try sewing with it.

We tried sewing a button and so far so good.

Next, we try to sew using a different fabric, a silk-like material.

Immediately we hit a snag -- the little hook keeps catching the thread in the fabric.

So we try it again, with a third fabric.

It's even worse this time around.

The thread keeps grabbing the fabric so much that I could barely get it through the button hole.

We bought the One Second Needle for $10 at Walgreens .

And I have to say, my first impression was this needle is awesome for its threading ability.  But once I tried using it, I realized not reliable for its sewing ability.

The so-called "smart needle" is not such a smart buy.

So I give the One Second Needle a thumbs down.
