Colleges will soon be starting back up, and while the tuition may already have you broke, you're still not done spending cash.
Textbooks are one of the priciest items on the list, but there are ways to save.
There are lots of book rental sites out there that will either save you big or won't save you much at all.
The first book we looked for is an economics hard cover book.
The cost is $62.99 for a used book at Chegg.com.
Campusbookrenters.com will cost you a little less, $57.85.
At Bookrenter.com you'll pay the least to rent this book, $47.51.
Next on the syllabus is a 12th edition physics book.
Campusbookrenters.com and Bookrenter.com charge the same price, $195.95.
But, you'll score huge savings if you go with Chegg.com.
We found the same book for $23.49.
And you're renting it for the same amount of time -- 125 days.
We also compared prices for Political Science Research Methods, a political science studies textbook.
Bookrenter.com and Campusbookrenters.com will charge you the same price to rent the book for 125 days. The cost, $19.34.
But get this... Head over to Chegg.com and you can buy the book used for just $4.49.
That's nearly a fifth of the price that you will spend renting it at the other sites.
So do your research.
Don't assume that renting is always your best option because as you can see from my research, in some cases you can buy the same book for much less.
