Hitting your mid-day stride and feeling hungry? You don't have to go broke eating out for lunch.
A sandwich is always good, especially when it's made the way you want, and at a great price.
We shopped Valley grocery stores to see which will save you the most cash on freshly-made sandwiches.
Right away we noticed a few differences among the stores.
Albertsons' doesn't offer made-to-order sandwiches unless you order 24 hours in advance, but they do offer pre-made sandwiches that range from $3.49 to $5.99.
Fry's gives you a choice of Boars Head or Private Selection meat.
For Boars Head you'll pay $6.99, and it's $2 cheaper for Private Selection at $4.99.
But I wasn't impressed because they don't put the condiments on the sandwich for you.
They give you a packet to do it yourself.
Bashas' did the work for us and charged $5.99 for a fresh-made sandwich.
Safeway has a whole sandwich area for you to choose what you want and charged a little less -- $5.49 for the same type of sandwich.
We found the best price at Sprouts.
Their sandwiches are made to order for just $2.99. And I have to say, I love their sandwiches, they are fresh, tasty and cheap.
Tell me where you get the best price for lunch, by leaing a comment on my ABC15 Facebook page.
