I love the taste of garlic in my food, but I can't stand the smell it leaves on my hands. If you're like me, just taking the skin off the garlic is enough for me not want to use it.

So we found the Starfrit Garlic Genius for $7.99 online and decided to try it. The claim is that it is suppose to give you the garlic you want, without the work or leaving that smell on your hands.

First you open up the chamber and put the whole garlic clove inside, skin and all.

Next, close the flap to the chamber and apply slight pressure.  Then turn the handle at the top of the unit until the chamber is fully closed.  Then click the button on top of the unit to release the spatula and your grated garlic will be inside.

We tried it several times and I have to say we were really impressed, but if you're looking for your garlic to look more minced, this won't do it.

Still, it lives up to its claim and makes cutting garlic easier and leaves my hands smelling garlic free.

Plus the clean up was easy, simply rinse the cylinder under running water or place in soapy water.  It is also dishwasher safe, so you can stick it directly in your dishwasher.

Overall, I have to give the Starfrit Garlic Genius a thumbs up.
