Utilizing the Internet can save you so much money.

A great way to use the Internet is by using how-to videos to fix it yourself instead of hiring someone to do it for you.

Doing it yourself can mean saving a lot of cash if you do it right. Here is a recent example. At work our car is a Mazda 5 and the key fob to open the doors stopped working. We went on Google and did a search and found a how-to video on Vimeo. The video was easy to follow and took us a total of 5 minutes to get that battery replaced and the key fob working.

Another example on how I saved some cash with how-to videos is my latch for my convertible car stopped working. I looked up how much it would cost to get a new latch. For an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) part the best price I could find was $139.95. That was too much for my budget, but I needed it fixed. I went on YouTube and found a video on what commonly goes wrong with these latches and how to fix it. It took 20 minutes, and with a little assistance from my husband, that latch closes tight now. It is still holding strong after a year, so a huge savings on that.

Another place for how-to videos is Pinterest.com . I did a search on Pinterest.com for how-to videos and the results were endless. I found information on everything from how to wear 4 scarves 16 different ways, gardening tips, to how to make homemade apple sauce.

All of this information is free and right under your fingertips. So the next time you need something fixed, think how to-videos and your problem might be solved and your wallet will be full.
