When you buy a new car, you expect that there won't be any problems. But that doesn't always happen, as the Marcinko family of Anthem found out.

They tell the ABC15 Investigators that their new Chevy Equinox had repeated stalling issues.

In fact, it would stall in the middle of an intersection and they say it became a safety hazard.

The Marcinkos said they tried to get it repaired at the dealer where they bought it but they say after four attempts, it was still an issue.

So they contacted the Better Business Bureau and they say they went to General Motors, which makes the Chevy.

GM says they offered to repurchase the car. The Marcinkos tell ABC15 they are considering the offer.

Arizona's lemon law states that after a reasonable number of attempts to correct any defect or condition that substantially impairs the use and value of the motor vehicle, the manufacturer must provide a new replacement or accept a return for the full purchase price "less" a reasonable allowance consumer use.

Mesa Attorney Hyung Choi is a former GM engineer and handles consumer cases involving vehicles.

He says it appears the dealer had the chance to make repairs but was unable to do it.

Choi says if you have a similar issue and think you have a lemon, contact the Better Business Bureau auto line.

They handle complaints for the automakers.

He says if you still can't get satisfaction, it may be time for attorney involvement.

Do you have a consumer issue you want investigated? Email me or tell me about it on my ABC15 Facebook page.
