If you’re thinking about making some energy efficient home improvements, now’s the time to do so.

The staff at Angie’s List wants you to take advantage of those federal tax credits before they expire at the end of the year.

There are seven items that will qualify for a tax credit.

HVAC Systems: A new heating and cooling system can save you in the long run. They usually account for 10% of a home’s energy use.

Biomass Stoves: They use renewable resources to heat your home.

Insulation: If a home is not well insulated it can lose half of its heating and cooling energy.

Water Heaters: If yours is more than 10 years old, it may be operating at only 50% of its efficiency.

Roofing: Some roofing products will reduce the amount of heat transferred into your home.

Windows & Doors: They not only improve your homes value, but can prevent drafts from coming in.
