PHOENIX – On Friday, January 15, Phoenix Baptist Hospital invited members of the public and medical community to an open house to introduce the latest addition to the hospital.

Hospital officials say the da Vinci S-i is the next generation of robotic technology for minimally invasive surgical procedures.

The newest version of the high-tech equipment offers 3-D and high-definition vision for superior clarity, and provides surgeons with unparalleled accuracy, dexterity and control, according to a news release.

The machine also benefits patients by creating smaller incisions and quicker recovery times.

This leads to a shorter hospital stay, less risk of infection and blood loss, reduced scarring, and quicker return to normal daily activities.

Phoenix Baptist Hospital is using the da Vinci S-i system for minimally invasive procedures including urology, gynecology and general surgery.

Debbie Swaton, the RN Manager with the hospital said they have been using the robot since October of last year and now use it to perform about 20 procedures a month.

Sister facility Paradise Valley Hospital is the only other Valley hospital offering this new technology to patients.
