When it comes to traveling with children, everyone has there own ideas of what and how to do it.
It turns out that there are actually many things you can do to make your flying experience a bit less stressful.
Bobby Laurie and Sara Keagle are two flight attendants that take people behind the galley curtain giving them information and advice to help make their airport travels a more enjoyable experience.
In their blogs Laurie and Keagle address things like what do with kids, how to have an overall better experience and the do's and don'ts of airline travel.
For those parents traveling with children, Keagle suggests not only allotting enough time to prepare, but involving the young ones in your travel planning. "Children can become flustered and stressed if they see that you are," says Keagle"
Keagle also advises to forget the stroller and opt for a sling because it keeps your hands free.
For people with children, solo travelers and anyone who may get cold, Laurie recommends packing a blanket in a small space in your luggage. "Most airlines charge for blankets or have a limited supply."
If you are lucky enough to have another adult with you and the kids, only one of you should pre board to get settled while the other person stays outside the gate with the kids. This will give the kids an opportunity to let out some extra energy instead of having to stay seated while others board.
Those of you who are traveling with a spouse or companion, Laurie suggests sharing your bags. "Pack half of your clothes in each others bags so that if one of them were to get lost you at least have some of your own clothing while the airline locates your lost luggage."
Keagle and Laurie also share some of the major don'ts of airline travel:
Don't wear too much perfume or cologne you are in a very confined space with passengers who may have allergies.
Don't be upset if the FAs ask you to comply with a federal aviation regulation. They are simply doing their job and are required to ask for your compliance these rules in place for your safety.
Don't hand the flight attendant a dirty diaper. We are not being rude when we don't accept them in our trash, we just can't bring them into the "kitchen" (galley).
Don't change diapers on the tray table, also for sanitary reasons.
Don't place any child on the floor to sleep. The thing about turbulence is sometimes it comes without warning.
Bobby & Sara met online through Twitter. Both were flight attendants and had their own travel blogs. They decided to contact the UPGRD.com podcast
