If you want to stay in touch with loved ones back home while you are on vacation, the constant influx of new technology is impressive and continues to make staying in touch easier and more affordable.
Of course you can just pick up a phone and call someone, but if you are traveling overseas, you could get hit with colossal roaming charges.
You can also send a text message or an email, but nothing beats being able to see your loved ones and share your experiences with them.
ABC15 talked with a Travel Industry Insider, Christopher Elliott, about a few gadgets that will give you a visual way to stay connected.
“The first product is the Sony Bloggie," said Elliot. "It can take images and videos but the really neat thing about it is it has a service called Quick, which allows you to stream in real time video. So you can give your friends a URL, a website address, and they can see the event as it’s happening."
Another product is the Play Station Vita, which is a full gaming platform but it also gives you the ability to do voice or video calls using Skype.
If buying a new product isn’t in your budget, you can always just use your laptop or smart phone to Skype with friends and family back home.
