PHOENIX - Whether you're a native or new to Arizona, you already know we live in a beautiful and fascinating state.

Each Thursday, we're spotlighting a local hotel or resort that is a must-check-out destination.

Next time you feel the need for a road trip, staycation or pampering, go no further than the Travel section of ABC15.com . Here is this week's profile:

One of the last remaining historical gems of the Southwest is the Copper Queen Hotel in Bisbee. It opened in 1902 and is Arizona's oldest continually running hotel.

The Copper Queen Hotel is located in the heart of town and is Bisbee's only full-service hotel.

The hotel has seen many celebrities grace its halls such as John Wayne, Harry Houdini, Julia Roberts, Marlon Brando and Lee Marvin.

All rooms are non-smoking and no two are the same. There are seven specialty rooms available upon request. There is one handicapped-equipped room.

As a historic hotel with antiques throughout, pets are not allowed.

Enjoy breakfast, lunch or dinner at Angela's Restaurant, or relax in the Copper Queen Saloon . There's live entertainment on weekends and you can enjoy your favorite libation on the patio looking out at historic Old Bisbee.

Depending on the season, room prices range from $89 for a full bed to $197 for a specialty room.

Bisbee, 90 minutes southeast of Tucson, is a great place to relax and stroll through the streets. You can take a tour of the old Queen Mine and Bisbee Mining Museum, or hang out at a local coffee shop, book store, or saloon.

There's always something going on in Bisbee. This weekend marks the 20th year for the Bisbee 1000 Stair Climb . Take a leisurely stroll or make it a competitive run, or watch the Ice Man Competition as participants carry blocks of ice up 153 stairs in 30 seconds.

And if you're planning ahead, Bisbee is celebrating Halloween . The town will celebrate with a week of activities and the Copper Queen Hotel will hold a Halloween Costume Street Dance on Saturday, October 30 in front of the hotel to benefit women's and men's shelters of Bisbee. Dan Finck, one of the hotel's owners, says in the past they've had up to 800 people for the Halloween street dance.

And if you dare, join the Copper Queen Hotel's Ghost hunt held every Thursday night. If you stay the night a package price includes a room, a guided Ghost Hunt tour with tools to explore the paranormal, and Friday breakfast.

So if you're up for an adventure and historic surroundings, the Copper Queen Hotel in Bisbee has plenty to offer.
