It's finally that time that all parents enjoy: the kids are back on a regular school schedule and there's some peace and quiet me around the house. But what about our four-legged friends? Do they get lonely with all the action going out the door?
Bella Vasta, head of Bella's House & Pet Sitting , says that our pets become much more isolated without constant interaction, especially man's best friend.
Although keeping the kids home from school for the pet's enjoyment is not a thought that would go over well in most homes, there are ways to engage them. Bella recommends having some toys around the house to keep them occupied. Also include them in on daily activities. Walk the kid to the bust stop? Bring your pet with you; they'll love being outside and experiencing new sights and smells. It's a great time to not only get some exercise but it will strengthen your relationship. Not to mention that it will ware them out and make them much more relaxed during the day.
Like any child, it's important to keep pets on a daily schedule. Not only does it make things easier for dogs and cats everywhere, but it will make life better for their parents. It will make the day more routine and there won't be any worries about when to take out or feed the dog. For example, whenever breakfast or dinner is occurring, be sure to include our furry friends with their meal as well. Try taking them out in the morning or early afternoon constantly. They will develop a routine and won't have you worrying about whether or not they're staining the new carpet when you're not home! This will also make it easy to vacation and have someone watch the pets.
Realize how much easier it is for parents when they have their children on a daily routine. They can get into a daily habit without worrying about when they're going to brush their teeth or take a bath. Well, pet owners can get that same piece of mind by doing the same thing with their four-legged friends.
