2013 flu season and what people can do about it.

1) QUESTION: What is the flu?
RESPONSE: The  flu is a contagious respiratory illness caused by influenza viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death. Flu activity most commonly peaks in January or February.  According to the Centers for Disease Control, it will be the worst season in ten years.

2) QUESTION: Who should get vaccinated?
RESPONSE: CDC recommends that everyone 6 months and older get a flu vaccine each year. Especially for people who have certain medical conditions including asthma, diabetes, and chronic lung disease.

3) QUESTION:  How much does flu shots cost?
RESPONSE: Our clinics only charge $20. Since we are a primary care internal medicine practice we believe in we treat a variety of issues ranging from general health, injuries, and hormone therapy.  We want to know for sure why someone is not feeling their best.

4) QUESTION: So if a viewer starts to to feel fatigue in the next 2 months should they think that is the flu or something else?
RESPONSE: Every patient is different that's why we do blood work to verify if there are any underlying issues.  It may not be the flu. For women it can be a hormonal imbalance.  For men it could be low testosterone that is causing their fatigue and moodiness.  Once we verify the true causes then we do the appropriate treatment.
