    Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium is home to more than 5000 individual animals representing more than 600 species from all around the world. We are lucky enough to exhibit many species representing the continent of Australia and all the diverse wildlife it has to offer. Australia is home to many unique and interesting animals including, the Sugar Glider and the Red Lory.
    Sugar gliders are marsupials like many of the mammals from Australia. Female sugar gliders carry their babies in a pouch just like kangaroos and wallabies. Sugar gliders have a unique, yet purposeful name; they love to eat sweet, sugary foods like flowers and fruits and they glide from branch to branch and tree to tree. Sugar gliders have special skin that stretches between their arms and legs that they stretch out when jumping, allowing them to glide. The longest glide ever recorded was about 150 feet! Sugar gliders are also nocturnal animals, relying on their large eyes and ears to see and hear any predators coming their way.
    Red lories are small sized parrots that range from tropical Australia to islands in the south pacific ocean. Lories are nectar feeders, crushing up flowers and fruits with their beaks and lapping up the juice with their tongue. They are considered "brush tongue" parrots because their tongue is covered in multiple folds of skin to gather up the nectar they drink. Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium was the first zoo in the world to have a Lory Parrot Feeding exhibit where guests are able to feed the birds. Nowadays, Lory Parrot Feeding exhibits are found in zoos and aquariums around the world.
