Injectable Cosmetic Wrinkle Fillers
There are several types of fillers available on the market, some are permanent and others, though long-lasting, will eventually be absorbed by the body. All of them are used to reduce wrinkles and deep folds resulting in a younger healthier looking facial appearance.
Who is a Candidate?
Anyone with moderate to severe wrinkles or folds can benefit from absorbable injectable cosmetic fillers. The procedure can also be used to sculpt the face, fill in hollow cheeks, improve a chin or jawline, and to enhance other areas where fat loss can result in a hollow or gaunt appearance. Those with deeper folds, such as laugh lines around the mouth may decide to use a non-absorbable product for permanent results.
Procedure
All of the various products are injected directly into the area requiring improvement. For simple correction of wrinkles one treatment may be all that is required. For areas requiring more extensive sculpting several injection treatments may be necessary.
There are numerous injectable fillers, Dr. Ptak will examine the pros and cons of each for your particular need. The products can be roughly grouped into a few categories, biologically-based collagens and fats can be used for filling in minor wrinkles and folds, with results that last for up to six months. Hyaluronic acid-based fillers are thought by many to last somewhat longer. Synthetic products used for sculpting can produce results that easily last for two or more years, and with regular maintenance can last a lifetime.
Postoperative
Care required following use of Injectable Wrinkle Fillers will vary depending on the particular product used. Common post treatment practices include use of antibiotics, application of specific oils or creams, or daily massage of the face.
