As bullying becomes more and more prevalent we are learning more about how bullies operate.

According to Carrie Severson, founder of Severson Sisters , girls are more likely to experience bullying and she says it typically happens between elementary and middle school, and middle and high school.

Severson says she has found girls bully differently than boys, using social and psychological tactics like prank calling, spreading rumors, teasing and cyber-bullying.

Severson Sisters is a new organization in the Valley that hopes to give girls the support and encouragement needed to find their Supergirl and put an end to bullying.

The Severson Sisters 'Connections' program guides girls through creative activities such as dancing, cooking, and writing as a way to help them embrace their confidence, and build stronger relationships with their peers.

Severson Sisters is currently enrolling for the Connections program which launches the week of June 6, 2011, with different creative arts each week. Classes will be held Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. until noon at the Halle Heart Children's Museum. The cost for a week is $50.
