October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, it is also time for Phoenix Fashion Week . This year as in years past, the two will combine with a Fashionably Pink Charity Fashion show at the Musical Instrument Museum on October 5, 2011. The event will feature more than 30 celebrities and Valley breast cancer survivors wearing pink insipired designs.
One designer knows the struggle of breast cancer all too well, and her life experience has carried over into her designs. Patricia Brett is the woman behind Veronica Brett designs . Before the age of 18 Patricia had lost three aunts to breast cancer. She also has a sister who is a 14 year survivor, and 6 cousins who have battled breast cancer. Eight years ago Brett herself went through a mastectomy to reduce her chances of contracting the disease.
Through all of her experiences she realized there was something lacking in the women's clothing department, so she created Veronica Brett Designs, a swimwear line designed for women after breast surgery.
But Veronica Brett goes beyond that, Patricia says considers her line to be sexy and sophisticated and great for all women. She has created styles that provide support for larger busted women, and some with pockets to support small busted or those with asymetrical bustlines.
All the Veronica Brett designs are also fully lined with a soft Italian lining, and come up slightly higher under the arm for additional support and to help conceal post surgical scars.
Patricia's designs have been featured in Harper's Bazaar, O Magazine, Glamour, Real Simple, Good Housekeeping, and Redbook magazines among others.
