Local designer Jennifer Adams now has furniture sold at Costco and is offering tips for outdoor entertaining.
"Just because the temperatures have dropped doesn't mean you have to stop entertaining outdoors," Adams said. "Fall entertaining is all about creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. I'll show how you can transform your space for fall so you can dine al fresco all season long."
Setting the mood at the door:
Welcome your guests into your space by setting the mood as soon as they get to the entry way. Some ways to do this include:
--Front entry drink station: Set up a station in your entry way so guests can grab a glass of wine or cocktail and warm up as soon as they enter
--Keeping guests warm: Put some wraps and scarves at the entry way for guest to grab as they come in that they can use throughout the evening.
--Creating ambiance: Add rustic touches by adding in woven baskets or galvanized buckets.
Table elements:
Your outdoor table is a great place to have fun and play with rustic decorative touches. Add in a lot of layers to give the space dimension
--Rustic outdoor touches: For each place setting, use a jewel toned placemat. If you don't have a placemat you can use some great accent napkins instead to give you that pop if your table is darker. Napkin rings are another great way to add an interesting element to the table
--Easy fall centerpieces: Lanterns are great to use on a table, they add a warm glow to the space and are a unique way to utilize candles. For the center of the table, Adams loves using oversized lanterns.
--Blankets on chairs: For your dining table, place a throw blanket on each chair. It makes the space feel cozy, adds a fun pop of color, and another layer of texture.
After dinner entertaining:
Your evening doesn't have to end just because the main course is over. Keep the fun going with the below ideas for after-dinner entertaining:
--Dessert bar: After the main course, set up a dessert bar featuring all of your favorite cookies, cakes, and treats or if you're feeling feisty, build your own s'mores station. It's a unique hands-on activity that just screams fall.
--Game night: Your guests will love the comfort of playing classic games such as dice, cards, Uno, or Monopoly but you can use anything you already own.
