While most are trying to keep their workouts or healthy living on track in this new year, one Valley woman is focusing her attentions in a different way. Cindie Hubiak is focusing on living a thriving life.
Hubiak is the author of 'A Woman's Guide to Thriving After Prostate Cancer'. During the time surrounding her husband Steve's diagnoses and treatment, Hubiak realized there were plenty of books for the patient, but not many for those caring and supporting the patient and she decided to do something about it.
Through the book she reflects on the ways women in particular are impacted by cancer, either personally or with a loved one. Hubiak says it hits the woman in 3 ways, emotionally, spiritually, and physically (through the struggle with intimate relationships).
Hubiak says living a 'thriving life' means 'living your life with passion, knowing yourself, and taking care of yourself first so you are better equipped to take care of others.'
She goes on to give 4 tips that helped her move into a 'thriving life'.
1. Reaching closure
2. Determining to live in the present moment
3. Focusing on the positive
4. Eliminating doubt
Hubiak's book is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
