The Cactus Candy Company is 3 parts family, 2 parts prickly pear juice and one part secret recipe that has been in your backyard since 1942.
Amelio Casciato is the 5th owner of this sweet yet delicious little gooey treat. Like most non-natives of Arizona I have been enjoying this prickly pear treat for a longtime but never understood why most Phoenicians had no idea it was created right here in the Valley of the Sun.
The yellow box with the smiling saguaro cactus which is the same design used since 1969 is still used today. The juice from the prickly pear cactus is local and of course it's made daily. From jellies to other assorted treats Cactus Candy Company does a bit of everything.
Some of you might have forgotten the local taste of the little squared candy and need to be reintroduced or if it's your first time, take a bite. Slow down and stop in at the Cactus Candy Company for a prickly pear treat that will either bring back memories or start new ones.
