Susie Timm, born in the Land of Cow, moved to the Valley of the Sun to pursue her action-oriented dreams of becoming either a fire fighter, FBI agent, or politician. From those dreams, to becoming a booming banker of nine years, the epiphany of her true passion was found in something vastly different: the food industry.
Co-founder of "Foodies Like Us" in 2009, Susie launched Girl Meats Fork this year to create a meaty platform on which to cook, write, and share local and national, delicious recipes and food finds with the communities. Timm's passion toward indulging and preparing meat drove her to create her own award-winning BBQ team, Loot'n Booty, traveling to various competitions. Timm describes competitive BBQ as "Camping and tailgating-with meat."
But don't let that trick you. Susie still enjoys the fancy life. The Fancy Food Show is an event that takes place in Washington, D.C. over summer and in San Francisco in the winter. The event held over 1800 exhibitors and over 14,000 products showcased this past winter. Timm says that you basically eat your way through the exhibit halls. "Meaty" items that Susie particularly liked at the event consisted of everything from bacon pickles, cheese jerky, boar sausage, bacon spread, to maple bacon pops. In Susie's words, "it was a meat fest".
Other unique items found at the event consisted of an olive jam product made of green olives, award-winning black walnuts that had been marinated, a Swedish company called "Falk Salt" with various flavored salts, Indian spices have become a trend, and a Tandoor chef implemeneted a new line of frozen appetizers.
As far as trends, Susie noticed many interesting items. She expressed she was under the impression that bacon was "dead" as a trend, but it has posied and is making a comeback. Another trend that was prevalent was wine, which infused everything including chocolate sauce, peanut brittle, and chocolate candy. In addition, the chocolate tea line from "Republic of Tea" included Red Velvet Cake Tea.
From the time that these products debut, they hit the shelves. Susie, however, advises to go onto their websites to order the products directly.

Girl Meats Fork is a great resource to find restaurants, hotels, recipes and products for people who are serious about food and grilling. Although she has a passion for food in general, her love for BBQ and all things meat, inspired Susie to create a company on the basis of food and teaching women they can become masters of the grill.
