Girl Friday shows us Valentine's ideas to heat up the romance

Love is in the air and Girl Friday, Laura Mahoney, offers a few quirky and unique ideas to help you spark the romance this Valentines Day.

All of Girl Friday’s creations are something that can be made by yourself, creating a personalized touch to your day of romance.

Fabric Covered Picnic Basket

Cover a wicker basket, plastic filing cabinet or any other container that can be taken to and from the park or even used for a carpet picnic!

Fabric used in the example seen on Sonoran Living Live is a black & white houndstooth fabric by IMAN.

First, grab your glue gun and line the inside of the basket.

Once you’ve finished the inside, wrap the outside and bottom. If you can wrap a present you can do this!

Girl Friday added a tie to secure the top and added fun pockets on the inside to hold condiments, utensils and everything else you can think of.

Now that you have your custom made picnic basket, surprise him at home with a stay at home picnic for Valentine,s Day.

An out of the box idea for dinner is one of Girl Friday’s favorites from the LA area, Fried Chicken and Waffles.

The mix of the sweet and the crunchy is incredible and this dish is so much fun to serve.

Laura Mahoney uses a classic fried chicken recipe and combines it with a Belgian waffle with a little almond extract.

Some strawberries on the side and some champagne offer the perfect compliment to the carpet picnic with your romantic picnic basket.

Fabric Covered Cake Boxes

The fabric in the projects seen on Sonoran Living Live was found at Fabric Depot. 

The rose ribbon covered fabric inspired this project, as it looks like frosting.

Girl Friday used this to cover hat boxes and turned them into amazing "cakes.”

Again, you simply cover the hat box using your glue gun then use fun trim like you are decorating a cake.

You can top it with a painted wood ball, painted red like a cherry or add a number candle and use it as a birthday cake.
