During the hot summer months most of us tend to reach for salads, fruit, and lighter meats, they just seem more appealing.
But the next time you reach for that lighter meal think about this; the same things that make protein a great post workout meal, also make it great to eat in the summer.
Protein can improve hydration in the muscles, and increases the absorption of water from the intestines. It also provides essential amino acids to the skin, so what's not to like?
Try one of these recipes from Chef Carmine Manfredi, of U.S. Egg .
3 Whipped Eggs
5oz Grilled Roast Beef
1 Jalapeno sliced
3oz of Shredded Jack Cheese
Cook eggs on both sides in a greased 8" pan
Grill your roast beef and jalapenos,
Add ingredients and cheese into your eggs
Cook for an extra few minutes and fold into an omelette
6oz of Spinach
1/2 Sliced Yellow Onion
1 small Gala Apple
7oz Chicken Breast
Take the bed of spinach in large bowl and add sauteed onions on top
Dice gala apple into chunks and add on top of the onions
Slice the grilled chicken into strips and lay on top to finish
1/2 lb Burger Patty
1 Slice Jack Cheese
2 Strips of Bacon
1 tbsp of Chopped Cilantro
2 fried Jalapenos
1/2oz Sour Cream
Charbroil burger to temperature liking
Add jack cheese
Top with the strips of bacon
Add cilantro on top of bacon
Slice your fried jalapenos and apply to the cilantro
Top it off with your sour cream
