District American Kitchen and Wine Bar recently partnered with Alaskan Brewing Company to offer an exclusive four-course beer-pairing dinner.
Rebecca Stocks shows us four assorted fall dishes that are available in the restaurant and talk about which brews might pair well with the featured cuisine.
Their creations showcase artisan products, herbs from the restaurant's rooftop garden, and sustainably farmed items from local growers.
Check them out:
1. Big Sky Buffalo Sloppy Joe Sliders ($8)
--They pair well with the Alaskan Amber because of its rich, malty and balanced flavor profile. Alaskan Amber ferments slower and at cooler temperatures than most ales. This slow fermentation process helps condition the flavors resulting in its overall smoothness.
2. Carlsbad Black Mussels served with garlic croutons and habañero tomato broth ($12)
--They pair well with the Four Peaks Sunbru to balance the spice and kick tasted in the habañero broth. Sunbru Kölsch Style Ale goes down easy and has a soft dry finish. This malty sweet brew is a light to medium body ale with a very delicate flavor.
3. Singh Farm Honey Wings with pickled jalapeño and cilantro lime salt ($8)
--They pair well with the SanTan Hefeweizen, which is an unfiltered Bavarian wheat bear, effervescent and sweet, with an unmistakable banana-clove character. Often paired with a lemon, orange or mildly sweet dishes or fresh cheese such as chevre or mozzarella.
