Decorating with signs is something that you might not immediately consider when looking to add a little spice at home. But, it is easy and inexpensive and can be worked into a variety of home decor styles!
Among them, pallet art which has become an emerging trend in home decor. Destiny, from A Place For Us Blog , says it's not necessarily new. But, it is becoming more mainstay and being used in a variety of ways, from rustic to contemporary.
She shows step by step instructions in this video and also on her blog
Instructions:
If you do not have a pallet you can use left over wood.
First, cut them down to size and glue them all together with some wood glue and let that sit for a couple of hours.
If you prefer a more polished look add a trim using 1x2's and attached them using wood glue.
Put some weight on everything so that it will sit nice and tight and bond together. Consider letting it sit overnight. (If you need to you can sand any rough spots.)
After it has dried well, paint the pallets.
Destiny used some left over yellow from my buffet around the trim and then painted the inside with left over Valspar Oatbran from some other house projects.
Lastly, you can add some vinyl, but with a stencil or cutting machine. Destiny used a Silhouette machine.
Another way to use signs in your home decor is through framed printables. Printables are simply graphic art that you can download onto your home computer and print out at home. Destiny suggests putting them under a matte and framing them or adding a bow or other embellishment and placing in a shadow box frame.
