None of us wants to slave away in the kitchen making meals during the hot summer months in the Valley, but the good news is you don't have to. Pam Nectar is a Raw Foods Chef, she says raw food is good to eat when it's hot because it's much easier to digest.
There is also such a thing as 'cooling foods', Nectar says many are naturally raw like fruit which makes them perfect in the summer. Nectar goes on to say salads are the perfect choices for hot days, because our bodies don't have to work so hard, and they are more nutrient dense and loaded with enzymes.
The best part of raw foods is they are good for everyone, because as Nectar says adding more raw food to ANY diet is one of the best things we can do at any age.
Nectar has a personal reason for her attachment to raw foods: "I got into raw food after losing my mom to pancreatic cancer." Since eating a raw food diet, Nectar has lost 70 pounds and she says she's not done yet.
