Growing up in the Mexican state of Michiachon has provided many memories for Betty Alatorre de Hong, but one is starting with a Popsicle stick and fresh ingredients.
The frozen fruit-filled treat enjoyed on hot days or just as a snack is a delicious way to satisfy any sweet tooth.
Traditional flavors such as mango and chile to not so traditional flavors like Key Lime Pie are all served at Paletas Betty in downtown Chandler.
Paletas Betty squeezes, chops, grinds, and molds paletas almost everyday to create a simple fresh snack.
As you walk in you will notice the fresh fruit ripening behind the counter to the sounds of Betty grinding the natural spices. No mixes, no canned fruit, or frozen fruit is used. There are several flavors that change seasonally and even doggy pops for your four legged friend.
“We both love to eat, enjoy food and especially going to the markets and having all that freshness, that is where Paletas Betty came from,“ describes Betty with her husband, Alvin Hong. “We take so much pride and care in every step in the process, we think it translates to the final product,” says Alvin.
