Lupines and Larkspurs are just a few of the wildflowers featured in Arizona Highways March issue.
This issue is blooming with wildflowers from Arizona's high and low country.
Robert Stieve, editor-in-chief of the magazine, shares the reasons why this wildflower portfolio is one of the most popular.
He says part of the allure of the yearly issue is the fact that wildflowers are so unlikely in the state's harsh desert environment.
The amount of wildflowers that bloom are dependent on the amount of winter rain Arizona receives.
On page 30 of next month's issue are some favorite wildflower hikes and scenic drives.
This issue will take you from the Eagletail Mountains west of Phoenix, to Silver King Mine Road near Superior, Arizona.
To get a closer look at a wide variety of Arizona's wildflowers in one location, Stieve recommends a visit to the Desert Botanical Garden. Here the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Trail will be at its prime in March and April.
