You may recognize Zoe Kazan from her roles in 'It's Complicated' and 'Reservation Road', but for the first time she is writing and starring in her own movie.
'Ruby Sparks' is about Calvin, a young novelist struggling with writers block who becomes inspired by a woman he sees in his dreams. As Calvin begins to write about the woman he named Ruby Sparks, the more real she becomes, until one day she is a living breathing woman fully integrated into his life.
When talking with Kazan and directors Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris, you realize the movie is a true collaboration.
When asked if the on screen version was a true representation of the vision she had while writing the movie, Kazan said the movie is a much larger version than she could have imagined and she owes that to Dayton and Faris who saw the big picture.
Dayton and Faris defer credit to Kazan who they say delivered a screenplay that inspired them. You can check it out for yourself and make your own determination, the movie opens in select theaters nationwide on August 3, 2012.
