The monsoons and our hot weather can make your swimming pool green in one day.

Roger Runyon from CDC Pools has these great tips to keep your pool "swimmable" all year long:

1. Test, test, and test - Take a sample of your pool water to a local pool store for testing. It's usually free. This time of year you may even need to do it a couple of times a week. The professionals can tell you exactly what chemicals you need, how much you need and when to use it.

2. Skim, brush, and clean - You should brush you pool daily. If there is a storm time it is of the essence to get the debris out. Don't wait, warm water is the breeding ground for the green algae.

3. Keep your equipment clean - Clean out your filter regularly and always after a storm debris can get caught in the filter cause your filter to not work at the proper pressure.
