In the summer we're out by the pool, at the beach, on vacation, and pretty much in the sun for months.
The heat, humidity, chlorine and sun can do a number on our hair, causing frizz, dryness, and wrecking our color. There are a few things you can do to help minimize the damage.
Hair stylist Tera Rae Stephens said you should focus on products that protect, moisturize and combat humidity, and you don't have to spend a fortune. There are good products in every price level from the drug store brands to luxury items.
If your hair gets dry and frizzy, Stephens says you need to add moisture. She recommends a coconut oil mask or Moroccan oil.
The more time spent in the sun, the more risk of color damage or fading. Stephens recommends Aveda Protective Hair Veil to get ahead of the damage, and add a protective layer before you even hit the suns rays.
For some, it may be too late. Stephens suggests Malibu Shampoo for 'green' hair, and Davines Alchemic Conditioner if your color as faded.
