PHOENIX - Many 'special needs' animals are saved the workers of Maricopa County Animal Care and Control, and now they've got two Chihuahua siblings that are looking for a new forever home.
Six months ago MCACC took in Tamale and Flauta when they were just two weeks old.
Both went to a foster home where they were bottle fed and soon began hopping all over, according to a news release.
Flauta has severe deformity of her right front leg that keeps her from walking on it, while her brother Tamale's deformities are more severe; he was born without front legs.
Tamale struggled to walk in the beginning and workers tried to hook him up with different types of carts but he wanted nothing to do with them, officials said.
They started doing exercises with him to work on his balance and one day he put it all together and has been mobile ever since and keeping up with his sister.
Flauta and Tamale have come a long way and are now ready for adoption.
Do you want to be their new family? Send an email to Aprille Hollis with MCACC and let her know why you think you should be their forever home.
Hollis says caring for severely injured animals can be quite taxing on staff and resources at MCACC. If you would like to help with a donation go to their website for more information on how you can help MCACC and other animals like Tamale and Flauta.
