Bret Michaels' new venture: rockin' pet accessories

Bret Michaels apparently wants to give man's best friend a rockin' upgrade.

The Poison rocker has teamed up with PetSmart to launch his very own collection of funky, rock-inspired accessories for dogs and cats ... because every pet should have a toy shaped like a guitar.

Michaels' Pets Rock Collection includes such playthings, along with apparel and bedding that reflect Michaels' very particular sense of style. Think doggie doo-rags and vinyl boots, and clever food bowls that give a nod to the hit song, "Every Rose Has Its Thorn."

Michaels told People magazine that the collection "is all stuff I created from my brain," and all items have been pre-tested on his own two German shepherds, Diesel and Phoenix.

He said he considers the effort a labor of love.

"In life, they bring me a certain peace of mind," he said of his dogs.

The one thing the Pets Rock Collection still needs? A cowboy hat, which Michaels promised is on the way - as soon as he figures "out how to get it around the ears."
