Dog lover or a cat person? If you're in Arizona, you're more likely to own a dog, according to the latest numbers.
Arizonans prefer dogs over cats, with 44 percent of households owning dogs, compared to 30 percent owning cats, according to a report from Buzzfeed .
Using data from the American Veterinary Medical Association's U.S. Pet Ownership & Demographics Sourcebook (2012 ), Buzzfeed ranked Arizona as #5 under "Top Dog-Loving-Cat-Haters."
Louisiana comes in at #1 with 48 percent of households owning dogs, and 26 percent owning cats.
As for their opponents, Maine has the most cat lovers, with 46 percent of households owning felines, compared to 35 percent owning dogs.
There are approximately 70 million pet dogs and 74.1 million pet cats in the U.S., according to the American Veterinary Medical Association.
