PHOENIX - A Phoenix cleaning company could soon be “green”.

Specialty Textile Services, LLC is working towards a U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certificate. The award will take about three years to achieve.

The company invested over $2 million in the green campaign.

Specialty Textile provides cleaning services to several high-end Valley hotels, resorts, and restaurants.

Two batch washing machines were recently bought and handle 85 percent of the linens, while only using a gallon of water per pound of linens.

Thousands of dollars were spent on better lighting and hand held computers.

Specialty Textile could be the first laundry program in the nation to earn a LEED certificate.
