If you are pregnant or trying to conceive, you not only have to worry about your health, but your baby’s health as well.
Several recent studies have been done to assess the relationship between diet and exercise and reproductive health.
Dr. Millie Behera, associate medical director of Fertility Treatment Center in Scottsdale, tells us there are many different things to keep in mind to better prepare your body for pregnancy -- whether it be pre-pregnancy vaccines, exercise or diet and nutrition.
Ideally, a woman should consider a healthy weight before pregnancy. Being overweight and other lifestyle factors, including smoking and drinking, can cause delays and abnormalities in pregnancy.
Behera says being pregnant doesn’t mean you need to stop your exercise regimens. She says starting light exercises such as aerobic exercise programs along with swimming, walking or biking are also beneficial to expectant mothers as well.
