Toddler tantrums! How can someone so little cause so much commotion? And what can you do about it? We got some smart parenting advice from Dr. Lynne Kenney, author of The Family Coach Method.

Dr. Lynne says the first step is to understand what makes toddlers have these tantrums. She says common causes are frustration, feeling overwhelmed and needing attention.

She says the good news is parents can help to prevent the tantrums from happening. Don't put toddlers in stressful situations when they're tired or hungry.

Also, establishing a routine helps to keep them calm.

Dr. Lynne adds that is helps to give kids some age-appropriate control, it builds confidence. So choices are good.

Keep in mind, kids will be kids, so although this advice will help, it may not immediately get rid of tantrums altogether.
