PHOENIX - Target is the favorite discount store of many shoppers because of its clean aisles and hip, trendy merchandise offered at low prices.

But a new report says while there are some great things to buy at Target, there are also several things they sell that you should never buy there.

MoneyWatch.com says these are the things you should buy from Target:

  1. Hip clothing that looks pricier than it is.
  2. Trendy housewares (toasters, plates, wall decor, bedding, curtains, rugs) that also look like you spent a lot more money than you did.
  3. Green cleaning products as Target has one of the best selections around.
  4. Cosmetics as you will find an excellent selection and lower prices than chain drugstores.

Here are the things MoneyWatch.com says to avoid at Target:

  1. Furniture since you will most likely find better quality and values elsewhere.
  2. Movies and music because Target can have the highest prices of most mass merchants. For example, Moneywatch found the BluRay movie "Date Night" for $29.99 at Target, $27.99 at Amazon, and $26.96 at Walmart.
  3. Exercise equipment as the report says Target sells mostly "As Seen on TV" products.
  4. Shower curtains because Moneywatch claims they still contain dangerous PVC, though Target responds that it is removing them.
