Do you wish you could hire an interior decorator to give your home some style? Tina Mellino of Zia Interior Design says there are some simple, easy rules that will have you pulling things together like a pro on your own.
RULE 1: Scale "The first is be sure the scale of your furnishings & accessories are correct. The most common mistake people make in decorating a space is using the wrong scale when it comes to furnishings and accessories. For example, if the scale of your accessories are too small, the effect will look cluttered and deficient. By using larger to scale design elements the overall effect will be stronger and anchor the space giving the room a sense of high style and that WOW factor. When in doubt- go big for the most impact!
RULE 2: Color Be sure you select colors that compliment each other and then pull them into the furniture and accessories to tie everything together.
RULE 3: Drama Black is a great color for creating drama and a touch of elegance, combined with touches of gold, silver, copper will add depth and warmth to any room.
