LOS ANGELES - The second elimination night on the 14th season of “Dancing with the Stars” was a night filled with tension and questions.
Would the lowest scoring couple go home – when five separate stars were tied for lowest score with a surprisingly high of 24?
The first couple revealed to be in jeopardy was Gavin DeGraw and Karina. (No surprise there)
The second couple in jeopardy: singer Gladys Knight and Tristan. Both couples were two of the five tied for lowest.
Before revealing who got kicked off, the show had a couple other surprises. First, host Tom Bergeron disclosed that the dance-off returns next week. That’s when the two lowest-scoring couples actually have a live dance-off and the judges decide right there which couple goes home.
The other twist (if you can call it that) was the show letting second banana host Brooke Burke do some of the heavy lifting. Tom usually announces the safe and jeopardized couples from stage. But Brooke said for the first time she got to reveal the next safe couple from elimination while in the celeb-quarium. Except she flubbed it. She said, the judges – whoops – the producers let her do it. And that’s the last time Brooke gets to reveal a safe couple from the celeb-quarium.
Last, the show revealed soap star Jack Wagner and Anna were in jeopardy of going home.
At the end, Gavin and Karina were in the clear. It came down to Gladys and Tristan, and Jack and Anna.
In a dramatic turn worthy of a soap opera, “General Hospital” star Jack Wagner got eliminated after sharing a very personal story on Monday’s tearjerker episode.
Jack was also part of the five couples who got a 24, the week’s lowest score.
After the show, Jack tweeted, “A huge thnk u 2 Anna n a good wish 2 the other contestants. This was a great experience 4 me n it was because of the people, lv 2 them all.”
The 10 remaining couples now move onto rehearsal for rock week.
The next show will air at 7 p.m. Monday on ABC15.
