Kevin Hart’s stand-up comedy film, “Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain,” has become a surprise box office hit, grossing nearly $17.5 million by Sunday since its release on Tuesday evening.
Since the out-of-pocket film only debuted in 876 theaters and cost Hart $2.5 million to produce, the numbers are exceptional, reported The Los Angeles Times.
This is not Hart’s first production. In 2011, his stand-up comedy film, “Laugh at my Pain,” grossed $7.7 million playing in just 98 theaters.
However, Hart still has yet to be recognized by Hollywood as a major star, but he’s working on it.
