NEW YORK - Barbara Walters announced Monday that Jenny McCarthy will officially join “The View” as co-host.
The 40-year-old model-actress has appeared on the talk show 17 times and has guest-hosted eight times.
"We love her because she's fun, she's uninhibited and she's opinionated enough to help us begin the latest chapter in 'The View' history," Walters said at the start of Monday's show.
The move comes right after Elisabeth Hasselbeck left her co-hosting position to join Fox News.
Hasselbeck was with “The View” for nearly 10 years.
McCarthy will be a permanent co-host when season 17 launches Sept. 9 on ABC15.
