Christian Bale has declined an offer to star in Ridley Scott's “Child 44” film, according to Yahoo.com .
Yahoo reported that Bale met with the filmmakers Tuesday to pass up the offer.
The film is reportedly set in 1950s Soviet Union and is based on the true story of Andrei Chikatilo, Ukrainian serial killer who was executed for 52 murders.
Richard Price is reportedly writing the script, which is based on the book by Tom Rob Smith.
The book is the first in a three-part series that looks into the effect Stalin had on the Soviet Union.
