A Valley bachelor is one of two men left vying for "The Bachelorette", following a shocking penultimate episode that saw one of the contestants ending things with Desiree, and not the other way around.
Scottsdale marketing analyst Drew is still a potential choice for "Des", as is Seattle mortgage broker Chris, but it was bachelor Brooks who Desiree seemed most attached to -- until Monday night's outing.
In the latest episode, Desiree stepped it up on the beautiful island of Antigua by asking the men to the "fantasy suite" overnight, where there are no cameras.
But that's not where the drama happened. It's when an extended scene from Brooks' hometown date was shown; Brooks is seen with his family, talking about how uncertain he is that Desiree is "the one".
Cut to Brooks in Antigua with Desiree, as the Salt Lake City salesman drops the heartbreaking line, "I really want to be madly in love with you." ...but he's not.
"I always felt like I needed more time," Brooks said. "I don't feel like our moments apart are hard enough."
Through tears, Desiree laid it all out on the table, saying, "I didn't want to share my heart; I wanted to give it to you."
After saying goodbye, Desiree said she can't love Drew and Chris like she loves Brooks.
She then said, "Honestly for me, it's over."
In Monday's "Bachelorette" finale Part 2, Desiree must decide whether to settle down with one of her final two suitors, or move on from her journey -- on her own.
