CLEVELAND - We’re into week four of the 14th season of “Dancing with the Stars” and it was time to cut a new couple . The show promised the elimination would be a “shocker.”
Let’s just see about that.
First, the show brought us up to speed about the injury of actress Melissa Gilbert. She apparently hit her head against Maks’ leg during their performance. Melissa tweeted that she got a mild concussion and whiplash, but will be okay, although she sat out for the night, on doctor’s orders.
She also called fellow contestant, singer Gavin DeGraw, her hero because he carried her out of the studio to the ambulance. Isn’t that what paramedics are for? Leave it to the professionals, Gavin – you’re not even a great dancer!
It is rock week, and KISS performed again. The judges also asked Green Bay Packer Donald Driver and Peta to do an encore of their remarkable paso doble from Monday night.
Then the show started whittling down the safe list. It could be anyone’s guess who was in the clear, after several couples made mistakes or simply gave us dances with little to no real entertainment value Monday night.
By the end of the show, Disney star Roshon Fegan and Chelsie were one of the couples at risk of elimination. Makes sense - they performed a gentle waltz to a David Cook song. Didn’t really fit with the theme of rock week.
Then, TV host Sherri Shepherd and Val were revealed to be in the bottom two.
At the end of the show, we get the “shocker” that host Tom Bergeron promised - Sherri was going home.
Tears started rolling down Sherri’s face. The judges lamented about how much they will miss her.
Shocking? Really? Sherri was one of the lowest scoring couples, right after Gladys Knight, who still managed to look regal doing a dance that did not suit her at all.
Milking it for all it’s worth, Sherri turned to Twitter, posting, “Heartbreaking to have to leave my very tearful & confused son "Mommy are you going to dance again tomorrow?" its over Jeffrey.”
Next week will be Latin week and the competition begins again Monday on ABC15.
