Weekend music festival raising money for local charities

PHOENIX - North Phoenix is gearing up for the 2012 McDowell Mountain Music Festival this weekend.

This year's lineup includes national acts like Dark Star Orchestra, Big Head Todd and the Monsters, Trevor Hall, Keller Williams with the Travelin' McCoury's, Galactic, Ozomatli, Anders Osborne, EOTO, the Motet, Bob Schneider, Carolina Chocolate Drops and Soulive.

The festival is also featuring the local bands Tramps and Thieves, the Nameless Prophets and Endoplasmic.

The MMMF donates 100-percent of its ticket sales to the Phoenix Children's Hospital and Ear Candy, a local charity supporting music education programs in public schools.

The festival is also raising money through a silent auction and raffle.

The MMMF will be held at the Compound Grill at 7000 E. Mayo Blvd in Phoenix. Gates open at 4pm on Friday, April 13 for the first evening of the festival. Gates open at 11am on Saturday, April 14 and Sunday, April 15.
