SCOTTSDALE, AZ - When you struggle with a gluten or lactose food allergy, restaurants that cater to your needs are few and far between. Fortunately, we’ve found a local spot offering great eats that brings together all diet types.
Nourish restaurant, located on Highland Avenue and Scottsdale Road, was started by Kirstin Carey, a woman who, thanks to her own gluten and lactose allergies, was often left feeling like the “freak” at the table because of her specific dining needs.
After spending many years of struggling to compromise her food needs with those of friends and family, Carey was inspired to open a restaurant where they could all eat together without suffering through the “twigs and berries” stigma that surrounds gluten-free meals.
“We make special adjustments to everyday food to make it more available to people who want to eat healthier or have special food needs without scaring away the ‘normal’ eaters,” Carey says.
And this mission doesn’t only extend to people with food allergies; Nourish also offers 20+ vegan and/or vegetarian options as well.
Nourish’s signature dishes like sweet potato and avocado salad, lemon artichoke hummus, and Acai Berry Martini (yes, there really are such things as gluten-free liquors and beers!) have created a following since their opening last month and continues to attract every type of eater with entrees ranging from $8-$15 and organic cocktails starting at $10.
Nourish is located on Highland Avenue in the Optima Camelview Village.
