La Condesa Gourmet Taco Shop wants you to discard the myths about Mexican cuisine being greasy and heavy. They want you to experience the bold cuisines from the mountains of Sierra Madre to the relaxed beaches of Cancun with fresh ingredients and family recipes.
Everyone already has their favorites, like the Baja Sur Dogfish Shark Taco that has real shark placed on fresh corn tortillas. The Mayan Cochinita Pibil Taco, a Yucatan specialty, is roasted pork shoulder with achiote rojo, wrapped in banana leaves, and slow cooked. Topped with lime marinated onions and salsa habanera maya. Handmade corn quesadillas that aren’t flat and tasteless, these resemble a calzone like the Oaxacan Black Mole Chicken Quesa which is a legendary blend of spices, chiles, nuts, and chocolate.
If the tastes of the vibrant cuisine weren’t enough, you can add fresh homemade salsa from the salsa bar that comes in several styles and is made daily by owner Christina Guzman.
The vibrant colors of Mexican artists Manuel Gilavalos y Garcia and Ricardo Ramirez are carefully placed throughout the dining area, which blends with the rustic handmade furniture from Belles Artes de Mexico. Just like the family recipes, everything is homemade and authentic.
